Psychick Cinema – Nuclear Bohemianism
Vernacular Surrealism in the Age of Radioactive Slime
The 1980s was a golden age of excess, debauchery, and decadency. Casting our glance to the margins of mainstream culture at this time, we shall attend to the birth a new breed of renegade youths: the Mutant. Slouching towards Bethlehem, this warped youth-culture sounded a 'sublime Trumpet full of strange piercing sounds.' These Neuro-romantics were content to navigate the Futuristic World of Late Capitalism as an Ocean of Rubble & Ruin.
On Aug 13th, the Psychic Cinema returns to examine these surrealist poets of the modern age and their radioactive drug culture. Christian Greer will introduce the topic with a expansive lecture. His talk will be followed by a [High Definition] screening of a cult film from the 80s with a toxic anti-hero!
