NL De zevende editie van filmfestival CINEMA COLOMBIANO vindt plaats op 24 en 25 september 2022! Deze keer met een programma verspreid over twee locaties: op zaterdag in WORM Rotterdam en op zondag bij ons in Cavia. Elke dag heeft een uniek programma gevuld met Colombiaanse muziek, empanadas en natuurlijk films die nog niet eerder vertoond zijn in Nederland.
Zaterdagnacht is er in WORM een afterparty met tropische klanken (volledige informatie volgt spoedig) en op zondag zullen de trommels van de Batuta ons tot leven wekken in Cavia!

EN The CINEMA COLOMBIANO FILM FESTIVAL returns on the 24th and 25th of September 2022! It will take place at WORM Rotterdam (on Saturday) and at Cavia (on Sunday), each day with a distinct program filled with Colombian music, food (empanadas!) and of course films that have never been shown in The Netherlands before.
Saturday night will continue at WORM with an afterparty filled with tropical rhythms (more details soon!) and on Sunday the drums of the Batuta will revive us at Cavia!

Exhibition: The special effects of Jairo Pinilla
NL In de foyer zal een tentoonstelling te zien zijn met twee video's genaamd The special effects of Jairo Pinilla (Ana María Millán, 2003). Ana María Millán reflecteert op culturele praktijken buiten de officiële kunstcanon, maar die relevant zijn binnen de populaire cultuur. Zo raakte ze geïnteresseerd in horrorfilms. Ze maakte twee video’s over de special effects van Jairo Pinilla terwijl ze voor de regisseur werkte. Hierin relateert Millán de precariteit van de special effects aan toxische masculiniteit.
EN In the hallway there will be an exhibition with two videos called The special effects of Jairo Pinilla
(Ana María Millán, 2003). Ana María Millán’s work reflects on cultural practices outside of the art official canon, but that are relevant within popular culture. This is how she got interested in horror films. In The special effects of Jairo Pinilla, made while she was working for the director, Millán relates the precarity of the special effects with toxic masculinity.

NL In Villapaz, Valle del Cauca, woont Victor Gonzalez Urrutia, wie meer dan 40 films gemaakt heeft. In de documentaire HECHO EN VILLAPAZ leren we meer over de schilder, schrijver, filmmaker en bouwvakker Victor, evenals over zijn gemeenschap omringd door immense suikerrietplantages.
EN This film follows the making of Gracia Divina, one of the many films (more than 40) that Victor Gonzalez Urrutia has made in his town Villapaz. Through this plot, we discover the life of Victor –painter, writer, filmmaker, and construction worker– and that of his community surrounded by enormous sugar cane plantations.

La Pucha

NL Een groep kinderen besluit om een collectieve maaltijd (la pucha) te maken waarbij iedereen een eigen ingrediënt meebrengt. De ouders vinden het maar niets, gezien eten schaars is, maar geven de kinderen wat ze willen. Daarnaast ook een advies: ga niet spelen bij de beek! Maar de kinderen luisteren niet, en komen oog in oog te staan met een mysterieuze verschijning.
EN A group of kids decides to make a pucha, a collective meal where each one brings an ingredient. While the food gets ready they will play at the creek. Although their parents complain about the pucha, because of the shortage of food at home, they give the kids what they want. Nevertheless, the parents give some important advice: don´t go to the creek! But the children don’t follow it and will have to face tenebrous consequences.

Performance: La Batuta
NL La Batuta is een in Amsterdam gevestigde percussiegroep van vrouwen en non-binaire mensen met een migrantenachtergrond, voornamelijk Latijns-Amerikaans. Ze supporten regelmatig antiracistische, antikoloniale en queer-evenementen en marsen door heel Nederland met hun hypnotiserende en adrenaline-infuserende geluiden en optredens.
EN La Batuta is an Amsterdam-based percussion group of women and non-binary people with migrant, mainly Latinamerican, backgrounds. They frequently support anti-racist, anti-colonial, and queer events and marches across the Netherlands with their hypnotizing and adrenaline-infusing sounds and performances.

NL Middels documentaire en fantasie wordt ondervonden hoe transvrouwen in Colombia de dood ervaren in hun leven. Een sociale en politieke dood wordt vermengd met intieme en persoonlijke versies. Cada vez que Muero is een uitnodiging om het rouwproces van je af te schudden en de dood te zien met de ogen van diegenen die het leven ademen, het leven vieren en die voor het leven vechten.
EN Through documentary and fantasy film Every Time I Die explores the different ways in which trans women experience death in the course of their lives. Social and political death is weaved with those intimate and personal ones. This film is an invitation to shake off mourning in delirious crying or shrewd laughter, and see death itself with the eyes of those who radiate life, who celebrate life, who fight for life.
