Rietveld alumnis in the past year
NL Puncture verzamelt zeven korte films die het afgelopen jaar door Rietveld-alumni zijn gemaakt. Zes daarvan werden gepresenteerd tijdens de afstudeershow van 2022. De overhangende spanning die in alle werken aanwezig is creëert de gemeenschappelijke basis waarin de kunstenaars, via verschillende benaderingen, vragen aankaarten over identiteit en blik, surveillance, escapisme en dood. De films werken als antwoorden op de wereld waarin ze leven waarin het lichaam, als centraal element, paradoxaal genoeg van hen wordt beroofd. 'Puncture’ als een manier om het beeld te doorboren, het scherm te breken en in duizenden stukjes te barsten.
EN Puncture gathers seven short films made by Rietveld alumnis in the past year. Six of them were presented during the 2022 graduation show. The overhanging tension present in all the works create the common ground in which the artists, through different approaches, tackle questions regarding identity and gaze, surveillance, escapism and death. The films work as answers to the world they live in, in which the body, as a central element, is paradoxically being robbed of them. Puncture as a way to pierce the image, break the screen, bursting into thousands of pieces.
